Hackney is home to some of London's most historic parks and inland waterways. The Regent's Canal offers a picturesque alternative to the bustling city streets as it travels south to boarder Victoria Park and meet the Hertford Union Canal at the junction with Mile End's green spaces.
A waterside wander in this part of east London could also take you to one of the capital's most popular up-and-coming shopping spaces at Broadway Market. With the canal at one end and London Fields at the other, this busy site plays host to a wide variety of stalls and sellers on market days.
Hackney is also home to the Hackney Empire. This theatre continues to have a long list of great artists that have trod the boards to the continued delight of audiences.
The Geffrye Museum is set in beautiful 18th century and visitors can explore the changing style of the English domestic interiors from 1600 to the present day through a series of period rooms. There is also a wonderful walled herb garden.
