Available from October 2010, the East London Greeters are volunteer residents who want to share the area they know and love with visitors to the city, at no charge.
The East London Greeters have been created to showcase this part of London that is often over-looked by visitors and to offer them the unique experience of a locals' knowledge and introduction to what makes London a vibrant and exciting place to visit.
If you have a special interest we can match you with an East London Greeter who shares that interest; whether you want to learn more about local history, infamous residents, culture, sport, architecture or art, or to explore the many markets - take advantage of their knowledge and passion and discover something new about London.
East London Greeters can take you to the following areas:
· Woolwich
· Eltham
· Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs
· St Katherine Docks and Wapping
· Hackney Central (including London fields and Broadway Market)
Terms and Conditions
· No more than six people per group and at least one person must be over 18
· Only one East London Greeter request can be made during your stay
· All East London Greeters and visitors travel on foot or on public transport
· Greeters are subject to availability
· We can make arrangements for visitors with disabilities
· Visits run between the hours of 09.00 and 15.00pm and last from one to four hours
· All costs relating to refreshments and transport are not included
